26. Son Of Batman (2014)

Justice League Doom
Warner Bros.

Son of Batman is the first animated film to be based on Grant Morrison's legendary Batman run, and focused on a polarising moment from the comics; the introduction of Damian Wayne (Bruce's estranged son) as the new Robin.

The feature will really rely on your affinity for said kid. He's a hard character to like or even find cool for the majority audience. Sure, he knows kung-fu but that doesn't make-up for the fact that he's also an epically entitled brat.

Regardless, his storyline is put up front and centre here, from his origins as a murderous protege of Ra's Al Ghul, to heroic Boy Wonder sidekick of Batman. It wouldn't grate as much but for the fact that this same arc would be repeated in every other film he would appear in afterwards, essentially making the journey in this film feel moot.

Still, there's an excellent ninja vs mercenaries opening battle, Deathstroke always makes for an exciting villain and Talia Al Ghul's prominent tight leather gets the film some extra points. Yet, for a Batman effort this one stands as one of the weaker because of its un-involving story and polarising main character.
