Ranking Every Disney Animated Movie From Worst To Best!
15. The Little Mermaid (1989)
Okay, sure - Ariel doesn't actually learn anything and she still gets everything she wants. But honestly? This movie is still excellent.
There is so much to love about this movie. For one, the animation and shadow work is some of Disney's strongest ever. Two, the soundtrack is absolutely delightful, with a special shoutout going to "Part of Your World" for being one of the most gorgeous melodies I have ever heard. Third, Prince Eric has a surprising amount of personality and it's great that his relationship with Ariel basically has to build up from nothing.
Finally, Ursula is a stellar villain who becomes legitimately scary at the end. A lot of folks would pay good money to see a Maleficent-esque film about Ursula, for sure.
