Ranking Every Jack Ryan Film Worst To Best
2. Clear And Present Danger
Harrison Ford became the second and so far only actor to play Jack Ryan on the big screen in Clear and Present Danger, which saw him re-teaming with Patriot Games director Phillip Noyce to deliver a sequel that was bigger, badder, smarter and ultimately better than their last collaboration.
The budget was noticeably bigger this time around, with the action scenes becoming larger in scale, with the Colombian cartel's ambush on an FBI convoy the obvious standout. The scope of the plot is also expanded, as Ryan is forced to deal with threats coming from all sides as he looks to protect himself and others from both drug lords and a conspiracy within his own government.
Some of the best sequels take what worked about the original movie and use it to their advantage, and by adding extra layers of intrigue, thrills and explosive action onto the formula established in Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger definitely fits that bill.
