22. Moonraker
A film that mightve featured even lower were it not for Ken Adams brilliant production design, Moonraker saw the Bond franchise try to get in on the space race, following in the footsteps of Star Wars to send 007 interstellar. Sets and special effects aside, Moonraker is a pretty insipid affair, with not much in the way of dramatic richness or iconography. The theme song is forgettable, as is main nemesis Hugo Drax, who is never going to feature on a list of the greatest Bond villains despite being played by the brilliant Michael Lonsdale. A man who would feature on that list is Jaws, cheaply brought back to the series here to become a kind-of ally to Bond - a cheap bastardisation if ever there was one. The scene where he (Jaws) finds a girlfriend must surely rank as one of the worst moments in the history of the series.
