Ranking EVERY James Bond Henchman From Worst To Best

68. Pan Ho (A View To A Kill, 1985)

Tee Hee James Bond
United International Pictures

Despite being one of May Day's loyal "enforcers", the most memorable moment of Pan Ho's cinematic existence is failing to correctly pronounce Bond's flimsy alias "James St. John Smythe."

But perhaps that's the genius of Pan Ho; by bringing considerable attention to Bond's ludicrous undercover name, she exposes how bad a secret agent he can be when the moment calls for discretion.

Really, "James St. John Smythe" is hardly the most conspicuous alias to use when you're trying to infiltrate Max Zorin's estate as a run of the mill socialite. If a lowly minion like Pan Ho can react with such palpable suspicion at the sight of it on the guest list, you can bet that everyone else will have taken notice, too. That's just what you want from an alias - to be completely impossible to forget.

Other than that one moment, though, you'd be forgiven for not knowing Pan Ho is even in the film. She does appear, here and there - mostly following May Day and fellow underling Jenny Flex around en route to her doom in a flooding mineshaft.

Since she dies offscreen, it's anyone's guess what her final words were - though they probably weren't "Saint John Smeeth?"

Chest thumping James Bond and Haruki Murakami fanatic living in China. Once had a fever dream about riding a rowboat with Davos Seaworth. He hasn't updated this section since Game of Thrones was cool, and boy does it show.
