Ranking EVERY James Bond Henchman From Worst To Best

76. Vlad (Die Another Day, 2002)

Tee Hee James Bond
20th Century Fox

Take GoldenEye's Boris Grishenko, give him a worse haircut, remove his self-assuredness and make him even wimpier. The result is Die Another Day's Vlad.

Creator of the Icarus Space Program and a number of reality-defying mechanisms, Vlad is somewhat of a genius, all things considered - though the simpering Russian scientist mainly succeeds at annoying his boss, Gustav Graves.

Vlad spends the majority of the film staring at screens and showing unwavering loyalty to a man who insists on kicking him at every spare moment. In another film, a figure like Vlad might be a little more important, given his demonstrable expertise at constructing bonkers sci-fi inventions. Die Another Day, however, prefers him to be as weak and forgettable as possible.

We might even feel sorry for the frequently mistreated Vlad before we remind ourselves that nothing good can come of his creations - least of all in the hands of a man such as the demented Graves.

Regardless, other than enthusiastically noting that 007 has beaten Graves' fastest time in a high-tech Ice Dragster (much to the villain's chagrin), Vlad has almost nothing to do.

As the worst James Bond adventure ever, there's not a lot Die Another Day does right - least of all "henchmen" like Vlad.

Chest thumping James Bond and Haruki Murakami fanatic living in China. Once had a fever dream about riding a rowboat with Davos Seaworth. He hasn't updated this section since Game of Thrones was cool, and boy does it show.
