Ranking EVERY James Bond Henchman From Worst To Best
38. Boris Grishenko (GoldenEye, 1995)
Does "I am invincible!" ring a bell?
Computer maestro Boris Grishenko is just entertainingly arrogant enough to elevate his otherwise meagre position of Trevelyan's hacker for hire. Tasked with overseeing the stolen GoldenEye's targeting process, you'd think Boris was responsible for single-handedly conquering the world with just a few taps of his keyboard.
Yet, despite his preening proclamations of his own genius, it's hard to see Boris as anything more than an insignificant lackey in the grand scheme of things.
For all his self-satisfaction, he's treated with thinly veiled contempt by Trevelyan - a man who wouldn't hesitate to squash Grishenko like a bug just as soon as the job is finished.
Perhaps this thought occurs to Boris as the film winds towards its conclusion - it's with significant desperation that he begs Bond Girl Natalya to please, pretty please give him the passcodes that would stop Trevelyan's ambitious plan from falling to pieces.
Once the inevitable happens and the villainous lair is destroyed, you'd almost expect Boris to escape like a cockroach. Unfortunately, he chooses the wrong place for a victory pose - he ends up drenched in freezing liquid nitrogen and left to stand as a macabre memorial to megalomania.
