Ranking EVERY James Bond Henchman From Worst To Best
74. Davidov (The World Is Not Enough, 1999)
Elektra King's head of security by day, Renard's terrorist aide by night; though Davidov is astoundingly ineffective at both roles.
Davidov's first scene occurs in Azerbaijan, with locals protesting the planned construction of King's oil pipeline through a holy site. When Elektra agrees to move the pipeline around the site, one worker is outraged.
"That will take weeks - and cost millions! Davidov?" he appeals to the security chieftain.
"I'll talk to her," Davidov assures him.
Even with less than a minute of screentime, we know this is a joke. Davidov's ability to influence Elektra is non-existent, as evidenced by the fact that she'd ignored his firm instructions to stay home. Predictably, the plans go ahead - despite Davidov's confidence that he would change Elektra's mind.
If he's hoping for better results in his moonlight gig as Renard's lackey, then, he's sorely disappointed. Davidov is forced to hold a scalding rock for his past failure to arrange 007's death, before being sent on a dangerous mission to oversee the theft of a nuclear warhead in Kazakhstan.
He makes it about two minutes into this new venture before being shot and dumped in a trash receptacle by Bond. "He was buried with work" is 007's reply when questioned as to Davidov's whereabouts.
It's a fitting legacy for Davidov as a henchman - utter rubbish.
