Ranking Every James Bond Opening Scene From Worst To Best

10. Moonraker

The Spy Who Loved Me

The James Bond series is famous for its spectacular stunts, and the opening scene of Moonraker includes one of its finest. After the routine expository information is out of the way, Moonraker's opening cuts to 007 held at gunpoint in a pilot-less airplane. Bond manages to throw his assailant out of the plane, but then he himself is pushed out without a parachute.

Moonraker's opening scene is certainly not perfect - we are talking about Moonraker after all - but the awe-inspiring action of its free-fall stunt is so incredibly fun that it justifies suffering through its flaws.

Yes, the stunt men look nothing like Bond and Jaws, and yes, Jaws falling on top of a circus and surviving is absolutely bonkers, but even those pitfalls aren't egregious enough to taint the incredible stunt work and cinematography displayed in this set-piece.

The sky-diving stunt in Moonraker's opening scene is very brief and surrounded by mediocrity, yet it doesn't even matter. The stunt is so impressive and enjoyable that it single-handedly catapults Moonraker's opening scene to top ten of this list.
