Ranking Every Jim Carrey Movie Worst To Best
11. Horton Hears A Who! (2008)
Dr. Seuss has certainly had a middling dalliance with Hollywood over the years, but Horton Hears A Who! remains one of the very finest to date.
Rather than jam itself full of headache-inducing pop-culture references, there's a simple, easy charm to the film that feels wholly in step with the spirit of the source material.
The vocal performances from the cast - especially Carrey as anxious elephant Horton and Steve Carell as the Mayor of Whoville - elevate the spritely animation nicely, even if this falls short of being an out-and-out classic.
10. Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events (2004)
Though this film has been undeniably supplanted by the more recent Netflix adaptation series, the Carrey-led A Series Of Unfortunate Events is a ton of fun in its own right.
While the stonking $140 million budget and idiosyncratic tone ensured this thing never had a chance of breaking even at the box office, the stellar production values speak for themselves.
Carrey's magnificent performance is the key attraction, though, diving headlong into the villainous Count Olaf and his myriad disguises with unhinged glee.
Overall the material is probably better suited to the TV medium, but it's still a shame this movie cratered at the box office, killing an enticing cinematic IP in the process.
