Ranking Every Live-Action Superman Suit From Worst To Best
2. Crisis On Infinite Earths - Kingdom Come Suit
Brandon Routh is back as Superman, now sporting the costume from the Kingdom Come comic almost straight off the page, modified to look like it came from the Superman Returns universe.
It is a big improvement of from the one worn in Superman Return by getting away from that costume's heavily criticized elements. The neckline is now lowered, so his traps and shoulders look huge. The chest emblem is embossed and finally big. The low neckline and the big emblem make him come acros as big and strong. Accompanied with the muscle suit underneath, he looks like one of the biggest, if not the biggest out of the live-action Superman. An achievement made despite Brandon Routh still being one of the smallest actors to play the part at 6'3 and still retaining his slim frame from the last time he played the part. It just goes to show how a suit design goes a long way.
Storywise, he is a Superhero who has dealt with the death of his friends and family. So the suit reflects that by making the black part of his emblem a symbol of still having hope in even dark times. So while it has dark elements, it is justified better than that from the Snyder-verse.
Aside from everything else mentioned, what makes this above and beyond is that it also has the fan-service novelty of being a homage of Kingdom Come with caring accuracy. A costume no one thought would ever be seen in live-action.
