Ranking Every Live-Action Superman Suit From Worst To Best

12. George Reeves Suit

Superman Movies
Lippert Pictures Inc.

Like Kirk Alyn's, the George Reeves version is a product of its time. Then again it does fair better. While it still has all the awkward wrinkles a Superman suit should not have, and it still cannot pull off the red underwear look, George Reeves looks convincingly larger than life in it. Yes, it is the actor but the muscle suit underneath is really convincing. If we do not know there is a muscle suit underneath, George Reeves can fool us that his body was really that large.

He still looks like he is wearing a homemade sweater, but at least it is a better form-fitting sweater than the one used before.

When the suit transitioned to colored TV, it looks even better. The colors pop in an era where everyone else is wearing beige, greys or browns. For the first time, The Man of Steel looks like he is with us in real life.

The biggest weakness is the cape area. The cape is not attached well, only barely hanging on its shoulders - So it looks awkward swinging around as if it is about to be ripped off at any moment. It ruins the illusion that he is Superman when George Reeves back is in front of the camera.
