Ranking Every MCU Film From Worst To Best

4. Iron Man 3

Obviously, the whole Not Really The Mandarin situation was a bitter pill to swallow for a lot of fans of Marvel's comics, but if you push that aside (and it's not really that much of a problem in hindsight anyway), Iron Man 3 is exactly what an Iron Man movie should be.

It's packed with spectacle and set-pieces - including the ludicrously entertaining Iron Legion sequence - it has a genuinely threatening villain (fire breathing capitalist pigs with political agendas always fly) and it has Tony Stark wrestling with some serious demons.

Thanks to the release coming in the wake of the Avengers, retro action junkie Shane Black was able to play with the notion of a hero counting the costs of his own heroism with a knife-sharp script that blew all of the problems with Iron Man 2 into the abyss. And of course the film set the precedent for the haunted version of Stark that was so key to Age Of Ultron, and whose new principles will change the world entirely in Civil War.
