Ranking Every New James Bond Actor's Introductory Scene From Worst To Best

4. George Lazenby - Beach Fight (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)

James Bond Goldeneye Opening
MGM

George Lazenby had one hell of a task on his hands when he was cast to take over from Sean Connery as the next James Bond and fair play to him. One Bond actor, in particular, declined the offer for the very reason that they couldn't imagine picking up where Sean Connery left off (more on this later).

His introduction: The slow reveal of Lazenby as the new Bond is done brilliantly and begins in a high-speed chase to the beach. Seeing a woman in distress in the water, he dives in, sweeps her off her feet and gives her the ol' "Bond, James Bond" introduction. When two armed thugs appear trying to take her, there's an incredibly well-choreographed fight scene where he batters one with an oar and drowns another in the ocean.

The girl, however, has vanished.

7.5/10 This introduction had a fistfight with two gun-wielding henchmen and Bond sweeping a woman off her feet; it was almost the perfect introduction. However, the fact that he says "This never happened to the other fellow." whilst looking directly at the camera after the woman he just rescued drives away in his car, loses points, unfortunately.
