Ranking Every New James Bond Actor's Introductory Scene From Worst To Best

2. Pierce Brosnan - Sorry, Forgot To Knock (Goldeneye)

James Bond Goldeneye Opening
MGM

Whether or not you think Pierce Brosnan is the best Bond, you have to admit, Goldeneye is the best first film out of all the Bonds.

His introduction: Bond is seen running across the top of a dam, clips onto the railings and dives off of it. Then he gets out a laser gun and bursts open a hatch into the facility below. His first line is delivered beautifully when he lowers himself into a toilet stall of a guard saying "Sorry, forgot to knock." before punching his lights out.

What then follows is the "death" of his partner, Alec Trevelyan, a massive explosion and a narrow escape on a plane nosediving towards the mountains.

9/10 - Brosnan has the most action-packed introduction of any Bond to date. He dives off a dam, infiltrates an enemy base and then subsequently blows it up. And even after that if you're left wonder whether he can do the suave stuff as well as the action, he then has a race with Xenia Onatopp whilst his competency examiner sits in the passenger seat.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
