1. Sean Connery - Baccarat (Dr. No)
The number one spot couldn't possibly be taken by anybody else, could it? Although he does have tough competition for the title of best Bond, Sean Connery laid the foundation for what Bond should be and he does it all with one line.
His introduction: Dr. No has an interesting start because we don't actually see Connery until 8 minutes in but boy, it's worth the wait. Bond is eventually sent to Jamaica to investigate the death of an agent but before that, he is at a Baccarat table playing opposite a wealthy lady. Although we only see the back of him at first, the camera pans over to him as they exchange introductions. He lights a cigarette, the orchestra swells and he delivers the lines that will echo for eternity.
10/10 - The music, the cigarette smoke, the suit, the smooth voice and the iconic "Bond, James Bond." line delivery singlehandedly set a whole franchise in motion. The hype around the film was massive at the time of release because of the popularity of the books but Connery did not disappoint. Any sceptics of his ability to portray the iconic character were quickly silenced within just 5 seconds of seeing him being on screen.
