Ranking EVERY Resident Evil Movie From Worst To Best

7. Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Resident Evil Movies
Screen Gems

With the release of Resident Evil: Apocalypse it seemed that the cures of terrible video game tie-ins were over. That was the illusion anyway until the follow up to Paul W.S Anderson's 2002 instalments was unleashed upon the globe.

Somehow this film took the titular character from the third game in the series, Nemesis and turned the Tyrant into nothing more than a clumsy oaf that is not only dispatched by Alice with ease, but is turned into a gentle giant, as his overall sense of guilt leads to his demise via helicopter.

Not only that but Jill Valentine becomes an afterthought as her moments are squandered or she's is swapped out for Alice in key moments. Because after all, "this is her story". They should've stayed away from retelling the events of the 2nd and 3rd games entirely and gone with something almost totally new like in the first film.

For the in-the-know fans, however, spotting the shot-for-shot reimagining of certain cutscenes from various games will leave them wondering what could've been.

What is essentially a standard zombie apocalypse affair with underlying themes of shady corporate dealings is bogged down with bad action, corny dialogue and poor attempts at recreating the events of Racoon City incident.
