Ranking EVERY Resident Evil Movie From Worst To Best

8. Resident Evil: Damnation

Resident Evil Movies
Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan

Following the series' now most recognisable protagonist, thanks to his part in some of its most successful titles, Leon S. Kennedy returns to stomp out BOWs once again. The second of the three canon Resident Evil CGI movies served two purposes: The first being to try and lead up to the events of Resident Evil 6 the game, the second a big "what if" fan service string of events.

This film almost exclusively focuses on the Licker enemies from the games, which are essentially animals turned inside out massive claws; their brains exposed with giant tongues to attack with. Damnation shows what it would be like if someone could control these BOWs, as it pits waves of them against the towering Tyrants.

The plot, for the most part, leaves a lot to be desired as it doesn't do very much to move the narrative or the lore of Resident Evil forward in many ways. Apart from these power fantasy battles that would be better served in a game setting rather than on film.

The whole Leon and Ada Wong "will they won't they finally break their awkward tension" also falls flat here for the first time too. Overall, it should've been a warning for the game to come.
