So here we are, the best Stan Lee cameo of all time. Incredibly creative, Lee himself called it "the funniest one you'll ever see" and we're tempted to agree with him. The Lizard has attacked Peter Parker at school because it was time for an action scene. It's actually one of the film's best sequences, with Spidey making ingenious use of his webshooters and Marc Webb trying to present the usual pre-finale villain fight in an interesting way, evident from this cameo. Stan Lee plays the school's librarian, listening to classical music and completely oblivious to the chaos unfolding behind him; shelves are collapsing, superheroes are being flung about and and table is stopped from hitting him at the last minute. When the film was released cinemas the world over rang with uproarious laughter. This week we've already looked at how the action in The Amazing Spider-Man could have been more novel, but it's nice to see something properly unique was left in the film. Agree with our ranking?
