Towards the end of the war, Skynet became more inventive in its Terminator design, as it realized the need to create capable infiltrator hunter-killers that could mitigate rogue Terminators used by the Resistance. The final model produced for this need was the T-5000, and it was the most advanced Terminator constructed.

The T-5000 was so advanced, Skynet transferred its consciousness into a single unit so that it could successfully infiltrate the Resistance to get to John Connor. Unlike previous attempts made to kill him or his mother in the past, Skynet instead infected Connor with machine phase-matter, turning him into a T-3000.

After numerous failed attempts, Skynet finally managed to compromise its greatest enemy. Its ability to infect a human with nanites that transform them into T-3000s makes the T-5000 a much greater threat than anything Skynet previously sent either into the past or up against the human Resistance in the Future War.

There's not much known about its overall abilities, though it has shown an ability to fool dogs while infiltrating Resistance bases. It is also much stronger and faster than any previous model of Terminator, which may be why Skynet felt safe in transferring its consciousness into a T-5000.
