Ranking: Every Tom Cruise Action Movie From Worst To Best
1. Collateral
Michael Mann brings out the very best in Cruise in this immensely gripping urban thriller, pulling off the role nobody believed him capable of: a grey-haired hitman.
With lashings of dark humour, thoughtful philosophy, an Oscar-nominated Jamie Foxx performance and Cruise's outstanding commitment to gunplay (he never looks less than a pro here), Mann takes a potentially gimmicky thriller and transforms it into one of the best and most evocative "genre films" of the early 2000s.
Best Moment: After two armed junkie douchebags try to steal Vincent's (Cruise) briefcase, he quickly pulls his own gat and murders the pair before they have time to react, retrieving his briefcase in the process. It's probably the most bada** thing Cruise has ever put to screen (though dangling off a plane comes pretty damn close).
