Ranking: Every Tom Cruise Action Movie From Worst To Best

9. Knight & Day

Tom Cruise Mission Impossible 2 Edge Of Tomorrow

While it's probably the least-discussed of Cruise's more recent movies, Knight and Day is a criminally underrated action thriller that benefits hugely from Cruise's terrific chemistry with the game Cameron Diaz.

Cruise has been pretty sparing with taking on comedy roles, but this is a solid balance between his more straight-faced bada**ery and going unrepentantly silly. He's a dab-hand at it, though, so should definitely commit to this type of performance more often.

The action is characteristically bonkers as directed by James Mangold, and though the plot is easily the worst thing about it, it provides a decent enough excuse for loony set-pieces and a terrific central pairing.

Best Moment: Cruise and Diaz end up fleeing on motorcycle from a herd of charging bulls. The CGI is gloriously naff (and felt no less terrible in 2010), but the scene's go-for-broke silliness is basically the film at its best.
