Ranking: Every Tom Cruise Action Movie From Worst To Best
10. Top Gun
If nothing else, Top Gun represents the late Tony Scott at the height of his directorial powers, spinning a riotously over-the-top action yarn that remains an affectionate Cruise fan-favourite in spite of (or perhaps because of) its inherent cheesiness.
The gorgeous visuals, lightning-paced action, colourful characters and that undeniable homoerotic subtext combine to create one of the most indelibly 80s movies ever, such that Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are still hoping to get a sequel off the ground.
And it brought us the Academy Award-winning classic Berlin song, "Take My Breath Away", so how could you hate it?
Best Moment: The infamous final celebration scene, where Iceman (Val Kilmer) tells Cruise's Maverick, "You can be my wingman anytime." Don't lie: you can't help but smirk.
