Ranking Every Upcoming DCEU Movie By Anticipation

16. Joker & Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn The Joker
Warner Bros.

Release Date: 2019?

Billed As:

Here's the low-down from Tracking Board:

"Described as a “criminal love story” in the vein of Natural Born Killers, [JOKER AND HARLEY QUINN] would come on the heels of the characters’ reunion in Suicide Squad 2, and would take the place of Gotham City Sirens, which has been reconceived [sic]."

Positives?

Suicide Squad was so bad partly because it cut out David Ayer's real focus on the Joker/Harley Quinn relationship, leaving the Joker to be no more than a distracting side-show. If he can make this film over as a Crazy Love (the iconic story Harley debuted in in the Animated Series)/Natural Born Killers road movie, it will be interesting. Batman can't be in it for it to work, but that's not entirely a terrible thing.

Also, lots of people want to see more of Margot Robbie's Harley.

Concerns?

Ayer has already proved he's not entirely capable of getting a restrained performance out of Jared Leto, and there's LOTS of potential for too much problematic material. Do we really need to see the fetishism of abuse?
