Could it be anything else? There is such a weight of expectation on Deadpool that the decision to release it into what is traditionally a deadzone is either a masterstroke or a major risk by Fox. Billed as a different type of superhero movie, the film will seek to undo the sins of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, giving the fan-favourite character the R-Rated treatment he requires and adding a distinctly adult element to the X-Men franchise. After Fantastic Four, the studio need a win, so its good that their marketing campaign has so far been so inspired. And the decision to bring back Ryan Reynolds is their blue chip: his charisma should ensure that even mediocre surrounding elements could be survived for a sequel. Release: Feb 12
