Ranking February 2015’s Movies From Worst To Best

7. The Last Five Years

RottenTomatoes Score: 62% (6.3/10 average) Box Office: Made for just $2 million, The Last Five Years has only opened on 36 screens in the US so far, and grossed a paltry $100k. VOD figures aren't available, though they could very well be better. Adapted from Jason Robert Brown's musical, this movie coasts largely on the strength of the chemistry between leads Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, as the production itself is incredibly low-key and lacks the glam that audiences may typically expect from the genre. As such, it's a movie best appreciated by those who liked Once and Begin Again, both of which sprawled their music into urban areas rather than elaborate stage productions. Visually it's not particularly memorable, but the song numbers are well performed by the two leads, who do their absolute best selling the material.
