RottenTomatoes Score: 11% (3.5/10) Box Office: Though the film has made more than double its $10 million budget so far, The Choice is also the lowest-grossing Nicholas Sparks adaptation to date, likely because neither of the lead actors are household names in the slightest. Verdict: There won't be much sympathy to go around for anyone who subjects themselves to Sparks' latest crime against cinema, which while well-acted and nicely shot like almost all of his films, is also disgustingly saccharine from first minute to last. It's pure formula, right from its tame approach to sex through to a highly melodramatic finale that's more laughable than dramatically poignant. Also, the token "brilliant actor who deserves much better" supporting part goes to Tom Wilkinson this time. If not quite as manipulative as some of Sparks' films, it's still tired garbage.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
