Ranking February 2018's Movies From Worst To Best
2. Phantom Thread
RottenTomatoes Score: 91% (8.5/10)
Box Office: Paul Thomas Anderson's $35 million fashion drama hasn't quite made its budget back yet, but owing to the limited nature of its cinema release, it'll end up profitable when it hits Blu-ray.
It's basically expected that PTA's movies do mediocre box office business at this point, and it at least doesn't seem to stop him getting more movies made.
Verdict: Daniel Day-Lewis' acting career comes to its apparent conclusion with a doozy of a final performance in PTA's sensual, surprisingly funny unconventional romance.
DDL typically delivers, but the real surprise here is co-star Vicky Krieps, who holds her own fantastically well against him, and was certainly more deserving of a Best Actress nomination than Meryl Streep.
Certainly more accessible than PTA's last two films, the classy, unsettling Phantom Thread is a fitting swan-song for one of Hollywood's all-time greatest talents.
