Ranking February 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

13. Instant Family

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 81% (6.56/10)

Box Office: Released way back in November in the U.S., Instant Family has passed the $110 million mark worldwide on an admittedly bloated $48 million budget (much of that presumably going to Mark Wahlberg's salary).

This is also exactly the sort of movie which performs gangbusters on home video, so it's got plenty of life left in it yet.

Verdict: As cringe-worthy as the marketing made this family comedy look, it's really not that bad at all, if largely due to the presence of an always-game Rose Byrne.

Occasionally funny and sweetly earnest, the film is also surprisingly self-aware in places, especially regarding its potential as a "white saviour" movie. It's sometimes too slushy for its own good, though, and Mark Wahlberg is just...Mark Wahlberg.

Still, far from the disaster it seemed to be.
