Ranking January 2016's Movies From Worst To Best

10. Anesthesia

RottenTomatoes Score: 34% (5.1/10) Box Office: The Tim Blake Nelson-directed drama has pulled in a paltry $21,039 after four weeks in seven cinemas, and it's hard to imagine the film doing a lot of business on VOD either, no matter how small the budget. Verdict: Though ably directed and stacked with a terrific cast (including Kristen Stewart, Glenn Close, Corey Stoll, Michael K. Williams and Nelson himself), Anethesia rarely graduates beyond self-conscious miserablism due to its dreary tone and pretentious array of dialogues. An intriguing enough curio for those who like the actors involved, but the stories don't intersect in an interesting or meaningful way, and it often feels grim for no sake but its own.
