Ranking January 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

8. Hacksaw Ridge

Split XXx 3 La La Land
Summit Entertainment

RottenTomatoes Score: 86% (7.2/10)

Box Office: Mel Gibson's war film was made on a surprisingly svelte $40 million budget, and has grossed more than $160 million to date, making it another easy hit for the controversial filmmaker.

Verdict: Gibson delivers a stunningly brutal war film with a real emotional punch behind it, driven by a fantastic ensemble of performers, especially Andrew Garfield and Hugo Weaving.

With immensely visceral violence and an unbelievable true story at its core, Hacksaw Ridge is an uncharacteristic war film for the ages, one that also cements its protagonist's faith without making the movie a strictly Christian picture.

Hell, it got great performances out of Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington and Luke Bracey. What's not to like?
