Ranking January 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

9. Denial

Split XXx 3 La La Land
Bleecker Street

RottenTomatoes Score: 82% (6.8/10)

Box Office: The $10 million drama suffered from poor marketing and as such has grossed just $4.2 million since its worldwide roll-out began back in September.

Verdict: Though it suffers from a fairly workmanlike construction, this Rachel Weisz and Timothy Spall-starring legal drama is a terrifically involving examination of David Irving's Holocaust denial, and historian Deborah Lipstadt's subsequent quest to dismiss a libel claim against her from him in a court of law.

It's a little dry and could be more emotionally confronting, but the sheer shocking nature of the true-life story and the superb performances carry it over the top regardless.
