Ranking January 2017's Movies From Worst To Best
1. Manchester By The Sea
RottenTomatoes Score: 89% (8.9/10)
Box Office: Kenneth Lonergan's $8.5 million drama has grossed an impressive $42.6 million so far, making it by a long way the most financially successful of his three features.
Verdict: Lonergan's drama may not be a fun time at the movies like La La Land, but it is a deeply-felt, incredibly emotional, achingly human film, boasting a plethora of excellent performances but none better than Casey Affleck's surely Oscar-winning turn in the lead role.
Lonergan has never been better as either a writer or director, and while so many Sundance hits end up falling by the wayside, here's one that's managed to go the distance. It won't win Best Picture (probably), but it sure is deserving.
