Ranking January 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

11. A Futile & Stupid Gesture

A Futile And Stupid Gesture
Netflix

RottenTomatoes Score: 52% (5.8/10)

Box Office: Straight to Netflix.

Verdict: An undeniably lightweight but frequently hilarious look at the tragically short life of National Lampoon's co-creator Doug Kenney, A Futile and Stupid Gesture gives Will Forte one of his best roles to date in this gleefully meta biographical comedy.

With an insanely stacked supporting cast including Domhnall Gleeson, Thomas Lennon, Emmy Rossum, Joel McHale and Matt Walsh to name just a few - not to mention the absurd number of easily-missed cameos - it's simply great fun watching such a huge roster of talented performers riffing off one another.

It occasionally succumbs to conventional biopic formula, but for the most part offers an evocative look at the man behind a legendary American comedy staple.
