3. Stan & Ollie

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 92% (7.5/10)

Box Office: The acclaimed Laurel and Hardy biopic has made $13.5 million against a slender $10 million budget so far, and with it still yet to release in a dozen countries, it'll slide into profitability eventually (especially with home video factored in).

Verdict: Stan & Ollie may be a simple biopic, but more importantly it cuts to the core of its focal subjects and, thanks to sublime performances from Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly, is a treat for both fans and newcomers to the comedy duo.

A sweet tale of friendship set across the backdrop of a fast-changing Hollywood, Stan & Ollie informs as equally as it entertains, celebrating the joy of Laurel and Hardy's work while refusing to ignore the melancholy of their personal lives. John C. Reilly in particular is absolutely remarkable in this.
