Ranking July 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

14. The Gallows

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 14% (3.1/10 average) Box Office: Despite scathing reviews, this $100,000 found footage flick has scored an astounding $30.8 million (yes, more than 300x its budget) at the box office, so it's yet another win for low-budget horror studio Blumhouse (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister, The Purge). The Verdict: Not content to be just a terrible attempt at a found footage film, The Gallows gives Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 solid competition for the worst film of the year so far. Where to begin? It's not scary, the characters are all douchebags so there's nobody to root for, and the camera shakes around so much that it's hard to know what's going on half the time. Plus, despite a scant 81-minute run-time, it takes agonisingly long to get going, and feels like an eternity all the way up to that laughable twist ending. No matter how committed a horror fan you might be, do yourself a favour and give this one a wide berth.
