Ranking July 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

7. The Secret Life Of Pets

Ghostbusters Jason Bourne Ice Age
Universal Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 74% (6.2/10)

Box Office: Made for a modest $75 million (for the standards of animated fare, at least), the latest work from Despicable Me's Illuminations Entertainment massively overshot expectations and has made around $400 million to date, setting several records in the process. A sequel is all-but-guaranteed.

Verdict: Neither as good as its delicious premise suggests nor as bad as an animated film starring a rabbit voiced by Kevin Hart could be, The Secret Life of Pets is a solidly watchable, inoffensive, well-animated effort that nails its unambitious goals, even if it could have been so much more.

The voice acting and quality visuals are the real reason to watch this, because the plot is as generic as they come.
