Box Office: Budgetary information isn't available, but scarcely cracking $250,000 at the international box office just won't cut it. Even with a U.S. release coming in early August, don't expect this figure to rise much.

Verdict: An at times almost unbearably visceral drama, this film about a young British boxer incarcerated in a Thai jail is girded by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire's tight direction, a lived-in sense of place and, best of all, an intensely physical performance from Joe Cole.

Shot and edited for maximum unflinching effect, small morsels of humanity nevertheless seep through to prevent the biographical movie from devolving into shameless misery porn.

It's Cole's movie, ultimately, and this is strong proof that he's on the verge of becoming a breakout star.
