Ranking June 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

8. The Shallows

Finding Dory Warcraft Central Intelligence Independence Day Resurgence
Columbia Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 73% (6.3/10)

Box Office: Made for an impressively minimal $17 million, The Shallows almost doubled its opening weekend expectations and has basically made its budget back already. Expect it to be one of the summer's most interesting success stories, because who doesn't love shark movies?

Verdict: Reinvigorating the "shark movie" with impressive visuals (especially considering its budget) and by far the best performance of Blake Lively's career, The Shallows may not quite live up to its full potential, but it's still an intense thrill-ride with pitch-perfect pacing at just 87 minutes in length.

Given how barren the genre is outside of ironic treatments like the Sharknado franchise, it's no surprise that the film has been a hit with audiences, but please, no sequels.
