Ranking June 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

11. Genius

Finding Dory Warcraft Central Intelligence Independence Day Resurgence
Summit Entertainment

RottenTomatoes Score: 48% (5.7/10)

Box Office: The budget hasn't been disclosed, but it's safe to say that the $800,000 gross from 152 screens isn't going to support a cast this note-worthy. It's a bust.

Verdict: Though the terrific ensemble including Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Guy Pearce are perfectly compelling, Genius does feel like a fairly generic biopic of American writer Thomas Wolfe, a by-the-numbers affair that's watchable, but should've been so, so much more engaging.

It doesn't help that the movie is shot and graded with the most drab tone imaginable, emphasising the dullness that creeps in and takes command of the actors who are evidently trying damn hard here. Not bad overall given the fascinating nature of its protagonist, but not quite good either.
