Ranking June 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

12. Me Before You

Finding Dory Warcraft Central Intelligence Independence Day Resurgence
Warner Bros.

RottenTomatoes Score: 58% (5.6/10)

Box Office: With a modest budget of just $20 million, this adaptation of Jojo Moyes' 2012 novel has smashed the box office so far, pulling in an extremely impressive $111.4 million.

Verdict: The best way to describe this unapologetic weepie is "well-intentioned". Sam Claflin gives a strong performance as the afflicted young man falling in love with his kindly carer (Emilia Clarke), but the film's engagement with the right-to-die movement is unfortunately only surface-deep.

Too often does the movie take the easy way out dramatically or deal with its characters in broadest way possible for the biggest audience. There's little complexity or emotional intelligence on display, meaning that the film is really just OK, and ultimately a missed opportunity.
