Ranking: Liam Neeson's Action Movies From Worst To Best

16. Taken 2

Only slightly less terrible than Taken 3 is its predecessor (which Fox missed a trick by not naming it "Taken Too"), in which Mills finds himself and his wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) kidnapped this time, while their daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) has to try and help out on the action front. Though it seems occasionally aware of its own status as a wildly redundant sequel (the scene in which Brian instructs his daughter to use grenades to help locate him is hilarious), the action, plotting and one-liners just can't measure up to the original. Just like Taken 3, Olivier Megaton's visually incomprehensible direction is more irritating than exciting, and Neeson just can't force any enthusiasm: it's clearly a paycheck role and not a very good one at that, but hey, at least it has people actually getting Taken in it, so it's automatically better than its successor. A critical pummeling didn't stop it from becoming the series' highest-grossing entry, though, pulling in $376.1 million worldwide.
