Ranking March 2018's Movies From Worst To Best
8. Unsane
RottenTomatoes Score: 78% (6.5/10)
Box Office: Steven Soderbergh cut a lot of his overheads by shooting this experimental genre film on an iPhone, keeping the budget to a svelte $1.5 million. It's already grossed close to $8 million, representing an intriguing success for a film that was daringly given a wide release despite the obvious mainstream hurdles.
Verdict: While audiences are likely to be divided on the film's cinematography, as a genre exercise, Unsane is a largely engrossing psychological thriller propelled by a fantastic Claire Foy performance (bar a few accent slips) and Soderbergh's atmospheric, unsettling direction.
There are moments that could feel a little tighter scripting-wise, but as an audacious attempt to buck the Hollywood system, it works far more often than it doesn't.
