Ranking March 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

Box Office: With a $55 million budget, Alex Garland's visionary sci-fi has grossed barely $30 million in cinemas, though it's important to remember that the film's theatrical release was largely limited to North America, and it was released to most of the world via Netflix.

The streaming platform reportedly paid almost $30 million for the streaming rights, ensuring that though the film is hardly a success, its base costs were at least covered. It's something?

Verdict: Netflix has been off to a rough start this year, but Annihilation is an instant sci-fi classic thanks to Garland's scintillating direction, a crackerjack ensemble cast, and a jaw-dropping third act that has to be seen to be believed.

It's a shame most of the world didn't get a chance to see it on the big screen, but at least Garland's steadfast vision wasn't mercilessly molested into a pile of studio-friendly garbage as a result.
