Ranking March 2018's Movies From Worst To Best
14. Tomb Raider
RottenTomatoes Score: 50% (5.4/10)
Box Office: Made for a surprisingly steep $105 million, the latest attempt to break the video game curse has already grossed close to $250 million, largely thanks to China, which comprises almost one-third of its entire box office haul to date.
It's probably enough for Warner Bros. to bank on a sequel, and you can bet a huge chunk of the film will be set in China.
Verdict: As far as video game movies go, Tomb Raider isn't that bad, largely thanks to Alicia Vikander's solid performance as Lara Croft and some solid direction, but it never becomes more than a generically mediocre action thriller that drags on at least 20 minutes too long.
Better-produced than the Angelina Jolie-starring movies but less fun, it's a back-handed victory for video game films, and certainly not the home-run fans have been desperately craving.
