Ranking May 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

6. Pitch Perfect 2

RottenTomatoes Score: 67% (6.1/10) Box Office: Made for "only" $29 million (compared to the original movie's $17 million), Pitch Perfect 2 has been a juggernaut ever since its mid-May release, already grossing a storming $190 million haul, far in excess of the original film's $115.4 million final worldwide cume, making it the highest-grossing musical comedy film of all time. It seems that a lot of people loved the first movie on Netflix or home video, because by the time it's all said and done, this sequel will surely have grossed more than double what the first film did. A mightily impressive feat indeed, and likely all the confirmation audiences need that a third film will be made soon enough. The Verdict: Pitch Perfect 2 doesn't bring much new to the table and flatly follows the successful formula of what came before, but thanks to the sheer size of its personality, it manages to be an entertaining sequel nevertheless. Rebel Wilson is, of course, the easy stand-out here as Fat Amy, and though fans will surely be arguing forever more over which movie had the best soundtrack, the addition of the German Das Sound Machine outfit certainly gives this one plenty of fresh flavour. It's corny as hell and almost painfully predictable, but it fires gags out at the audience so thick and fast that it's hard to linger on the ones that flop. It's good, easy, undemanding fun, even if the 115-minute run-time is wildly excessive.
