Ranking May 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

1. The Breadwinner

The Breadwinner
Universal

RottenTomatoes Score: 95% (7.9/10)

Box Office: The $10 million Oscar-nominated animation has cracked just $400,000 theatrically, but awards buzz and universal acclaim will likely make it a solid performer on VOD.

Verdict: An extraordinarily mature animated film that doesn't sacrifice gorgeous visuals or entertainment value for its desire to educate, The Breadwinner is a charming, affecting tale of a young girl and her family living under Taliban rule in Afghanistan.

Another breathtaking winner from Irish animation house Cartoon Saloon (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea), this is a great movie to teach kids about another culture and also bolster the importance of female agency.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
