Ranking May 2018's Movies From Worst To Best
2. Lean On Pete
RottenTomatoes Score: 92% (7.9/10)
Box Office: Andrew Haigh's (Weekend, 45 Years) $8 million indie drama has made just $1.6 million at the limited box office, but it'll clearly make that figure many times over at home.
Verdict: Sure to be one of the year's most consistently-praised indies, Lean on Pete sees Charlie Plummer shine as a disenfranchised teen who discovers hope when he starts caring for an ageing racehorse.
Gorgeously shot and wonderfuilly acted by a cracking ensemble cast - also including Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny and Travis Fimmel - this adaptation of Willy Vlautin's novel is a bleak but beautiful coming-of-age tale that'll prove richly rewarding for patient audiences. If there's any justice in the world, Plummer's about to blow up huge.
