Ranking November 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

2. Arrival

Fantastic Beasts Arrival Bad Santa 2
Paramount Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 93% (8.4/10)

Box Office: Made for $47 million, the sci-fi drama has raked in $93 million so far. Not bad for what's basically an art-house blockbuster.

Verdict: Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario) continues to cement himself as one of the strongest directors actively working today, with this beautifully shot, superbly acted and unexpectedly emotionally devastating take on an alien invasion scenario.

Shedding genre cliches and taking a rigorously intellectually approach to notions of language and communication, Arrival is like nothing else in the genre, and basically feels like the movie Christopher Nolan wanted to make with Interstellar.

Amy Adams will probably earn an Oscar nomination here for what just might be the best performance of her career, while Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker also provide excellent support.
