Ranking November 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best
Not-quite-Fantastic Beasts.
November is typically one of the year's most interesting and diverse months for movies, braced directly between the deluge of Oscar-baiting films and the less-demanding, more bombastic holiday fare.
This year, it delivered both in spades and, bar two out-and-out duds, it was actually a pretty decent month on the whole. Some solid Oscar-bait slid our way alongside a blockbuster hit that's sure to keep Warner Bros. swimming in money for the next decade-or-so.
Meanwhile, December sees the UK release of Oscar hopefuls Bleed for This and Collateral Beauty, as well as the more mainstream likes of Moana, Office Christmas Party, Rogue One, Passengers and...Monster Trucks. In terms of both box office glory and Oscar wins, it's all still to be played for.
Here are November 2016's movies ranked from worst to best...
17. Bad Santa 2
RottenTomatoes Score: 25% (4.3/10 average)
Box Office: Expected to gross $15-20 million in its first five days, this belated festive sequel ended up pulling in just $9 million, making it a certifiable dud.
Verdict: Every bit the low-effort slog the trailers suggested, Bad Santa 2 may benefit from a solid cast (especially Kathy Bates and Christina Hendricks in supporting roles), but with a plot that rehashes the first film and overly crude humour that forgets to actually be funny, you'd need to be pretty forgiving to give this one a free pass.
It's yet another comedy sequel that came far too late with too little enthusiasm. Avoid.
